Ightham Mote is an outstanding 14th-century manor house, surrounded by peaceful gardens and water features. Highlights include the Grade I listed dog kennel, Great Hall, Tudor painted ceiling and the private apartments of the donor, Charles Henry Robinson. Whereas, Old Soar Manor is a rare remaining structure of a late 13th-century knight's dwelling. It belonged to the Colepepper families reputedly through a policy of kidnapping heiresses and marrying them. The solar chamber was the Lord Private apartment. The barrel-vaulted under croft provided safe storage space. The chapel was originally accessible by an external stair.
